February Photo a Day Challenge: 26 - night

While every storm threatens crops and there is undeniable nervousness and fear to accompany it, there is nothing more amazing and awe inspiring than hearing, smelling, feeling and seeing a giant thunderstorm roll through the valley back home.

February Photo a Day Challenge: 24 - inside your bathroom cabinet

Once upon a time my perfume was stolen from my bathroom cabinet during a party. Upon talking to folks about this, I learned that many people look inside bathroom cabinets when at someone's house. This horrifies me. I have never done this at anyone's house. I haven't rigged ours to drop marbles if you open it, but I might, so open at your own risk. Also, If we have good drugs we're not going to keep them there.
PS: Our bathroom has a graffiti wall. Spend your time putting something memorable there rather than looking through our cabinet.

February Photo a Day Challenge: 21 - a fave photo of you

Our friend Justin took this a long, long time ago and it's still one of my favorites. A perfect example of an outtake coming out better than the intended shot.
PS: in the interest respecting different audiences, this not the same fave shot I'll use on facebook. So if you happen to read both, shh :)

"One sad day after polio struck and I was told of continuing paralysis - arms. hands.
(?) therapist who had worked with President Roosevelt who also had paralysis of legs from adult polio-said probably arms paralyzed worse because of inhibiting personal action - hair, eating, dressing, and my thought of writing gone!
Time for sadness
Time for Faith, Determination
Time to remember Responsibility
Kids - 2 lovely children"
Nana had polio when my mom and uncle were quite young. My mom remembers seeing her in an iron lung when she was little. Not only did Nana survive, but beat many odds by being able to walk and made pretty darn good use of her hand. She couldn't lift the right one up very high, but would use her left one to move it into place. She was a spunky old gal and we were quite close. We used to talk on the phone every Sunday morning when I was in college. As an older adult, she never went to the doctor and was on no medication. When it came time for her to go, at 88, the doctors were amazed. I remember seeing her in the hospital, she had always worn a wig, but she had beautiful long white hair. She died on a weekend that I was in Portland trying out for the Blazer dancers (and hadn't told anyone) and my mom was with students at a dance competition in NYC. I think that we were all so spiritually connected that having us spread out across the country with her in the middle, she simply floated away from the body that had held her back and joined mom and me in our adventures.

the front of the picture she had written on. We don't know who's tiny hand that is, but I suspect it to be my mom's.

February Photo a Day Challenge: 13 - blue

This is Shelly. She lives in our unfinished room upstairs and will scare the bejesus out of you if you aren't expecting to run into her. So much so, that I had to put a "Beware of Mannequin" sign on the door. She's Pasty Cline's sister.

February Photo a Day Challenge: 12 - inside your closet

This odd-shaped, unfinished part of the house had exposed insulation and not really much a floor.  A little ingenuity and elbow grease transformed it into a great little closet for anyone 5'4" or shorter.

February Photo a Day Challenge: 1 - your view today

This is the view from my office.  John and I picked up these cute little solar powered dancing flowers after a hangover curing walk to breakfast one recent rainy Sunday.  It's happy pink face makes me smile.
