Cuteness overload

On my jog today, I encountered this new mom on a little walk with her hatchlings...
When I came around again, they were taking a little break.
I've never wanted a human baby but today I kind of wanted to come home and sit on some eggs.

oops...

I didn't mean for the dog and cat post back to back. I'm usually more creative than that. I think I was high on sunshine (speaking of high, happy 4/20 :)) I got to spend three lovely hours sunning myself in the back yard. I love to suntan. I fear that we will have precious few days to do it this year as my guess is its going to go from rain and cool straight to the 90s. For the motorcycle, that's fantastic, but gets a little hot for everything else. So anyway, I was happy to get to take advantage of it today and lay there listening to music, turning my skin to a lovely summer hue. Also, during times like this I stray from the dance music that is often at the top of the list for ongoing choreography needs. and usually land in the country playlist. Here's one for you to enjoy:

Just wrong.

The other day I was at the wonderful world of Jo-Ann's, and ran across this random item....
So... whoa. a toy pig that poops candy and is a keychain. It claims to be "the super pocket pooper." Is that something that one needs or desires to have? Also, is this for kids or adults? Presumably kids as its toy-like and has candy in it. But seriously, as a parent of those kids, are you encouraging them to eat poop? or even implying that anyone would want to eat poop? or that maybe poop tastes like candy? the whole thing is just odd. and also, with the keychain? not only are you going to eat the poop candy, but you want to carry it around to offer it to your friends? "Hey Friend, want some candy? Let me get Porky Pooper! It's oinking good fun! Friend? Why are you running away, Friend?" And lastly, what about the people in product development sitting around trying to decide what to make next? "I know. let's make a toy that poops, people will love that!" "Oh yeah, yeah Bob, good call!" No. Or maybe they had a few too many bong hits before the meeting and they sent the specs over to production before they sobered up.. or maybe they were just in a big hurry... "Dudes, we need to get a new product done by this afternoon and my kids have a baseball game and Mary has a doctor appointment. Let's just make something out of an animal, everyone loves animals, right?" Bill: "A ham sandwich sure sounds good..." Mary: "Be right back, I have to poop" Sam: "Anyone want some candy?"

I went through every scenario I could think of as to why it came into existence and why people would want it. But, at the end of the day, I bought one. Why? it was totally blogworthy. Maybe that was their plan all along...

Rock and Roll Easter

Instead of the more common food-fest and egg gathering of this holiday, John and I headed out to the Turbonegro show. They are a band that we both like and who have given some of the best live shows we've seen. We got there early and hung out with friends and got to stand right in front, as close to the stage as possible. In order to get that spot however, we had to stand there through the first two opening bands. Normally that would be fine, but the second band were hmm, how do I put this..? Not necessarily guys that you want to see up close. Not lookers. They rocked, but by the end I couldn't watch any more. Also, not their fault, but the guy next to me smelled like asparagus. I think when the shirtless hairy backed guy sloshed John's head with his hair sweat is when I totally gave up watching and rocked out looking at my boots (which were good, so it wasn't all bad). Not that this was a rock star lust-inducing show, here's our main attraction, Hank, of Turbonegro....
Those were some good arm warmers though, I might have to copy them for a costume. This wasn't my favorite show that they've done, but we had a good time. AND our friend Alex (to whom we now owe a huge favor!) scored us a drum head that every member of the band signed. ROCK!

Spring has sprung? maybe? could it be?

Dear Spring,

Thank you for coming out this weekend, I'd sure love it if you'd stay. Here are some things that we got to do this weekend because you came around with your warm weather and general appeal.
1. We rode the motorcycle. both days. We put in about 130 miles just riding around enjoying the niceness that was your weather.
2. I did a little bit of yardwork. This needs to be done regardless of how nice it is, but is actually kind of fun when its nice out. I even plan to do some more today.
3. We opened all the windows in the house and let the fresh air in. We even kept the bedroom window open last night and I laid in my warm snuggly bed this morning and enjoyed the first, crisp smells of the day.
4. When I jogged, I wore shorts.
5. When we motorcycle in town, we like to go to Saraveza, which we did. We had beers that look like this:
6. All of these things made us look like this:
Please stay.
Love,
Shan

A break from the glamour...

Last Thursday:

This Thursday: Shopping for dish soap, vacuuming the kitchen, cleaning out the storage closet in the basement. also, for head flair, instead of fluffy ears, a kick ass hat, feathers or curls, I'll probably wear a bandanna.

Change is on the horizon.. the large, treeless horizon...

Some news! I got offered a job! and one that I'm kind of excited about. However, with it comes a lot of changes. The biggest one is that it isn't in Portland. In fact, it's not even close to Portland. After weighing out all the options, and there are many, oh so many: our home, friends, dance, our whole entire life, John and I have decided that we're doing it. We're moving to Nebraska. More details to come as moving day arrives!

This makes me think of when I was little and I'd get up early in the morning, before my dad got up, or at least before he was heading out to the field and I'd tell him "The horses got out!" He'd immediately walk over to the window or out the door and I'd smile and giggle... april fools.
