The death of a zombie dance

My class did Thriller for the last time last night and it was so good. We even got it taped to share it with the interweb. but alas, the video turned out too dark and so it just looks like a dark room with Thriller playing in the background. Not quite what i'd hoped for! I am going to try to get in the habit of taping some of our routines so I can share them here, hopefully with better luck next time. In the meantime, here is cookie bunny.

Rebel

While everything outside is shedding leaves and flowers and getting ready for winter, the Christmas Cactus is starting to think about blooming.

I totally wished I was the dark haired chick, and even took drums in band:

I used to hold my tape recorder up to the tv to tape the songs at the end:

i'm almost embarrassed about how many times i've watched these.

Crack Soup

Seriously, I cannot eat enough of this stuff. I feel like I should have one of those hats that has two straws on it but instead of beers, I would have this soup.

Stand up and listen.

There really isn't much better than a little Dwight. he's just not much to look at.

27% awesome

This shirt came in a recent box of fabulous stuff from Steph and this shirt (which belonged to my grandma) didn't look quite right on me, so I gave it to Kim. However, i almost kept the tag......
There just aren't enough things made from metallic these days....

Showtime!

We have had a weekly show at Hawthorne Theatre this month and it has been super, super fun. Its cool to have normal life all week knowing that on Thursday night, I'll get to get all glittered up and be a showgirl for a few hours. and then Friday, I can go back to my sweatshirt and stocking cap and know that along the course of my day, i'll probably touch something and leave it glittery and no one will know how it got there.

who'd have ever guessed?

Weekend, part 2

On Friday, while us girls were having our girls' night, the guys took off on their motorcycles for a day of riding trails, eating steak and generally being dudes. On Saturday morning, Kim and I took off to meet them in Redmond. We got coffee and visited and had a gorgeous trip through all of the landscapes in the transition of fall. Our commitment to each other for the weekend was comfy sweats, no showers, and matching hats. (since the boys have matching bikes... i know...)We got to the condo and the boys were gone, but not for long!
Once they got cleaned up and changed (but not us, we rocked our sweats!) we went to town to procure some drinks and snacks......

silliness ensued.....

After our in-town adventure, we went back to the condo and had more drinks and dinner and watched a movie and played games and had a good old time until bedtime, which came at 10:00. party animals, we are. The next day we woke up and attempted to be adventurous in our dining choice, but ended up at our old standby, Ms. Beasleys. After previous trips, I've just learned to order things without cheese. Now it was time to start heading back. Since the boys were on the bikes and off for adventures, Kim and I decided to take the dogs and do some hiking around Smith Rock. It was beautiful.
While we were hiking, Kim and I ran into plenty of lady friends who were more than happy to stop and take our picture. I don't know if it was because of the hats or the dogs.......
We were out there for about 2 hours and had a great afternoon.
Afterwards, we stopped for ice cream and then listened to country music all the way back home. We got home just about the same time as the boys. Everyone was tired. A perfect weekend.

Weekend, Part 1

On Friday night, we had a going away party for Snack, who had the genius idea of opening a hot dog stand in New York! How smart is that? With all those people, they probably get hungry and she would have snacks RIGHT THERE! totally clever. anyway, we started out our evening with sushi and some very delicious, giant beers. This is Evie, who is kind of short, walking through the tall beer forest.

After sushi, we went to the Pizzazz! talent show, where we had a great time and I wished that I would have entered so that I could show my straw/armpit trick. (see here: http://fishgirl65.blogspot.com/2008/08/instructional-video.html)
After that, we toasted our fun night and Miss Jess's upcoming departure with some beers at a nearby tavern (it was easy to find, there was a big sign outside that said "TAVERN." New York is pretty lucky. I think Jess is gonna totally class that place up.

The Sexy Zombie

I always teach Thriller at Tease and Tone before Halloween. The Sexy Zombie is a bad ass dance move that I invented a few years ago that I always put in the routine. It doesn't look anything like this:

AA loves SS/JJ

When John and I got married, I did not take his last name. We thought it was cooler that we both had same initial names. Apparently, American Apparel thought so to:

Choreography Insomnia

When one wakes up in the middle of the night, it is crucial that one does not let their brain turn to dance. Trying to review choreography or worse, actually choreograph, does not help one fall back asleep.

must. have. coffee.

Not to be confused with the basement/monster post....

"under the mud room" is NOT in the basement.

til next time...

Mama Longstocking headed back to the midwest today. We packed in all sorts of fun while she was here.

Boo, i mean Moo

I read today that some woman is so certain that there is a monster in her basement that she had the door going down there walled over.

a) its probably a ghost, not a monster.
b) in order to keep monsters and ghosts out of my basement, I have a cow. i mean really, what kind of self-respecting scary thing is going to lurk down here?

This is what it looks like when worlds collide

Tonight we have a burlesque performance that I am very much looking forward to! However, I also had to give a demo for my real job today as well. I sell inventory control software. As I am preparing for the demo, I am also packing my costumes and gathering my "getting ready" supplies. This is my desk today:

As I am demoing my software and discussing Stocking Levels, little do they know i'll be thinking about my fishnets.

Sunday Funday

I have to admit that i love me some fall weather. Coffee seems to taste extra good when you carry it around downtown with a bit of chill in the air and maybe a little rain... going to the movies? made for fall weather. a beer or glass of wine inside while watching the rain fall and checking out the boots of passers-by? love it. Yesterday we slept in (which we never do) and when we got up, we went down to grab a cup of coffee, stroll the park blocks and being fans of Ed Harris, went to see "Appaloosa." We loved it. After that, we went out to the Corn Maze. Now, the Corn Maze can be tricky, and I'm not talking about getting lost. everyone seems to love this and often you can find yourself in a line of traffic or amongst way to many people to be comfortable. A few years ago that didn't seem to be the case, but the past couple times we've tried to go, we ended up turning around before we even got there. Clever as we are though, we figured that the rain and cloudiness would keep away a giant fraction of wusses who were afraid to get wet. We were right. We had a happy day of eating corn and found our muddy way through the corn maze!!

overheard...

Random creepy guy to young male store employee: "Will you look at the tag inside of my pants and tell me what size they are? I forgot to look before I put them on"

Happy Friday...

Nothin' like the sign from the ol' Rub n' Scru' to make you immediately go around the block and take out your camera.

Self Service Pet Wash does not make it less funny.
