Fashion Friday

On photo day, it was raining so much that I couldn't bear to go outside for outfit photos. It was so torrential of a downpour that I also did not jog outside, and I drove the 4ish blocks to the gym to run on the treadmill. I'm glad that the inside shots turned out OK since I'm not used to doing them that way. It also was an unexpected bonus that I coordinated my outfit with the paint scheme.

Guess what I finally found? hints here, here, and here. A brown skirt! ta-da! It's not what I thought I would end up with but I like it. It is the first brown skirt I've tried on that I didn't immediately glare at and take off. It's pleather, which I didn't expect to come home with. Although now that I have it, I think a brown leather skirt would be a worthy investment. While I'm at it, I would wear a suede one as well. I am anxious to style this with colors and other variations of brown, but I admit I've worn this exact outfit twice (with different shoes each time). It's simple and slenderizing and I feel girlie in it. Probably because the skirt is high waisted, I feel like it gives me some curves.

I actually liked the skirt so much that I went back and got another one in black. Here's my "biker chick goes to the office" look. PS: this shot is from last week, I didn't rock matching skirts back to back :)

Something fun

The subject of Cincinnati (which I cannot spell right, like, ever) came up yesterday and I always like to send obscure "old" things to one of my younger co-workers. I sent him a picture of the cast from WKRP in Cincinnati and his response was: "What decade did this show take place? The picture quality is so poor its hurting my eyes… " Ah, youngsters with their high definition and Britney Spears and Justin Beibers. They don't remember walking uphill both ways in the snow to school and back. or hearing this catchy theme song through a tv where you had to get up to change the channel.

Candids

You know how I said we were going to make a photo collage of our Bridgeport pictures? Well here's just a recent phone dump of some of the ones we can choose from... This is one from outside, back in the good ol' days of summer...

Star....
Bimbo...
sometimes it's serious. well, as serious as you can be in a red glitter headband anyway.
see? serious.
sometimes not serious.

ah fun. we're cute.

The devil made me do it..

I just noticed that I had 666 posts. I'm just going to skip that quickly and make this 667th post. Just in case.

We are the proud new owners of this xbox! and we spent most of our weekend (I mean when we weren't at the bar) jumping and waving back and forth across our living room. sweet.
We like to taunt our cats with a laser beam and laugh when they chase it. I'm pretty sure this is the human equivalent of that.

Couple seeking pub for short term commitment, maybe more.

We recently found out that our beloved weekend hangout, Bridgeport on Hawthorne, was closing (NO!). This place is our starting point for almost every weekend and is conveniently located on the bus route to and from work and downtown and also near the grocery store (which makes Sunday shopping a lot nicer after a beer or two). First we heard that it was closing and going to be replaced by a pizza place (like we need another one of those). Upon speaking with our server-friends, who had all been let go (boo), we found out that they plan to re-open as themselves, but after a major renovation. It won't be the same, but hopefully they won't take away the homey feeling that it has, or at least give us the chance to re-gain it. Most importantly, I hope they keep our window seats! Regardless, we made our last weekend there count. Here's where you could find us quite easily on any given weekend at lunchtime...
Pay close attention to the Blue Heron sign....
On Saturday morning, we stopped to get a dozen cupcakes to deliver to the staff to thank them for the many, many beers and snacks they had delivered to us.

We sat in our regular seats and watched the show that is Hawthorne as we sipped away our sorrows. We had the idea to make a big frame of a bunch of our pictures in these very seats. We have weeks and weeks of each other in these chairs and various ones of our beers...
The focal point would be a certain Blue Heron decal. Our happily cupcaked servers looked the other way as we procured it.
Our lonely table...
We went back on Sunday, their final day, to find out the Blue Heron keg was empty. They found a couple bottles for us though and as we left, they handed us this 6 pack to that we could honestly say we drank the last of their beer. They also gave us two pint glasses with the old style Blue Heron logo. Way cool.
We will definitely check them out again after the remodel, knowing it can't ever be quite the same. But we are super stoked to have spent such a fun time there and we're thrilled about our stealthily stolen souvenir.

Fashion Friday

While I am teaching Body Blitz on Tuesdays and Tuesday is typically my Fashion Friday picture day, sometimes it's a roll of the dice because I pack my outfit Monday night. What I did not do on Monday night was wash my hair, so I decided to throw in a cap for Tuesday. To give it some flair, I clipped on a hair flower. I think it's adorable. My skirt looked fine for the day, but holding my backpack on the crowded bus ride home gave it some wrinkles for pictures. boo. Regardless, I think this is a win. I love the mixed prints with the herringbone on the hat, plaid in the skirt, and stripes on the socks.
Happy Friday!
