hmm, that surprises me.

Yesterday I stopped to get coffee and to my surprise, one of my boot camp gals was filling in as the barista at my normal Starbucks. When she asked me what I did in the area, I told her I was a training coordinator at a software company and she was surprised by that. I wonder what she would have pictured me doing? I think that's funny because for most of my adult life, I have run into people in my work life who are always surprised to find out that I was a cheerleader ( I'm blending dance and cheerleading here, I realize that) . I always figured they pictured the high school me like this (which actually is the high school me, but dressed up for nerd day during spirit week):

So, with that thought in my head last night, I decided to bust these out.

Carrying the banner for the homecoming parade. Isn't our little town cute? (and the band uniforms, totally rad.)
Cheer camp at the Peace Gardens. They even asked me to try out to be an instructor.
I didn't. I mean zoom in on some of those lunges. I can't work with that.
I got to hold the mascot sign! Go! Fish!

Princess Party

On Saturday, John and I decided to crash a neighborhood Princess Party for our young friend Sophia, who turned 4. Justin and Kerstin (the 'rents) moved all the furniture in the living room, made a princess fort, had the table full of "make your own crown" supplies and filled the ceiling with balloons! FUN! I think I'm going to hire them to do my next party.
Totally not out of place.
Kerstin and me. You know, we have partied together a lot in the last 13 years. I have entire photo albums documenting it. I don't think I'll show those to Sophia yet.
Sophia got this horse for Christmas. I'm kind of jealous.
John joins in the princess party fun.
we totally went to the strip club afterward.

Fashion Friday

Yesterday I was wearing the outfit that I wanted to post for Fashion Friday, but by the time I made it through early morning Body Blitz, got ready at work, worked all day (had a friggin' awesome day, BTW) and finished with a meeting from 4-5, a stop at the grocery store for celebration beers, and then at the gym to wait for Husband, there was no photo shoot going to take place. I knew that was a possibility so I took jewelery shots this week! I have oddly found myself rocking small stud earrings lately. Since I've been wearing these old rhinestone ones all the time, I was immediately drawn to this turquoise and rhinestone pair! Paired with one of my many turquoise necklaces, a turquoise ring (barely shown here), turquoise belt buckle (not shown at all here), it put some pizazz into my jeans and sweater on this cold, rainy Monday when really all I wanted to do was head to the bar.
On Tuesday, I had my first day of Body Blitz and got ready at work for the first time. I find it hard to pack for work as I really like to get ready in my dressing room in the morning. Here's what I came up with that was warm and cozy and fit in my backpack.I just got this ring at Forever 21 and I L O V E it. John thinks it looks like a Flying Saucer. Add a frog necklace and previously mentioned rhinestone earrings and I was ready to go!
I also picked up this necklace last weekend as I was shopping prior to going on a date with Husband. I found this little (OK, big) heart necklace and earring set and thought it would be perfect for our date! For work this week I wore them with a simple sweater, boots and jeans combo and added my big red ring. I really liked pairing red and brown.
Today, Husband and I are leaving work early for an appointment. It may or may not be at the bar :)

Dirrty

Aside from traveling with a spotlight in tow, I can't figure out a way to get these videos any lighter during the winter months. Its kind of too bad for this number, because even though it's dark, you can tell the dance is super fun. I never dance with my hair down (because it either falls into my face and I'm Cousin It for the whole dance or it gets all caught in my armpits and then smells like armpit. gross.) Anyway, I digress. When I choreographed this, I was hung over from an epic fun and late Saturday night with Husband and my hair was down and I looked all worn out and slutty and disheveled, like I was doing the dance version of the walk of shame. So I rolled with it and figured a song called "Dirrty" actually kind of called for it. So since the dance was designed using my hair, I busted it out for the vid too. This is another one where I want to imagine us in fun outfits. As you watch, just pretend we are wearing leather jackets with sequin bikinis underneath instead of our hoodies and sweats :)
