Fashion Friday

Here's my fashionable Mexico attire! Look ma, no black! also, thanks to Kim for the hand-me-down wrap. I love it.
I made an exception to my "only one pair of shoes, not counting tevas" Mexico rule and packed these heels. I'm so glad I did, I wore them every night.

Viva Mexico!

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this is one long winded post about our recent 4th Honeymoon in Cabo. That said, I had a hard time trimming the photos down even this much :) This is a happy vacationer in the hotel lobby:
We spent time every day frolicking in the ocean. One thing I love about Cabo is that there is enough beach for everyone and we usually had a whole section to hang out in by ourselves.
One of the things I wanted to do on this trip was hike out to Lover's beach. We had taken a boat out there in the past, but had heard that you could hike it as well. While were were hanging out deciding if and how to do it, we watched the pelicans and seals attack this bait trap.
When we saw someone coming towards us from the assumed route, we decided to give it a go. It was super cool and we hiked out that way three times while we were there. We crawled on the rocks alongside the ocean and once we met this guy...
The terrain was sometimes iffier than others depending on the tide..
We walked across beaches that we had totally to ourselves...

At one spot along the way, we stopped and took advantage of the best snorkeling I have ever done. The first day we stopped, the water was super clear and calm. The water was shallow near the beach and there were nice schools of fish swimming around, but when you circled behind one of the rocks there was a giant drop off and a tunnel of a bazillion fish. I could hardly keep my snorkel in my mouth because I was smiling so big. It was simply amazing. We went back again on our last day and the water was pretty choppy. I'm super glad we got to experience this spot on the calm day, and even on the choppy day it was one of the coolest things I've seen.

This is the very end of the land on Divorce beach (the other side of Lover's Beach)..
We don't do the night life in Mexico, so our evenings start early and end early. We did get dressed and head out for some beers in town...

Well, we had to check this out...
...and they had a giant slide in the bar!! More bars should have slides.

John found a little stand that made the best hot dogs ever. As he reads this, no doubt his mouth will water...
Our nighttime view....
We'd walk around the marina a couple times each day to and from our different adventures...
..stopping for the occasional, OK frequent, drink...
and of course, no Cabo vacation would be complete without a couple days at the Mango Deck...
The Mango Deck is fun and we were stoked that the staff even recognized us!
We worked on our tans...

swam in the ocean....
Had some drinks....

won ourselves some beers...
JJ jet skied...
I totally rocked the wet t-shirt contest...

Another stroll around the marina as we settle in for our last night...

and tan and happy, we toast to our vacation and head back to home....

til next time....

A typical afternoon for my camera..

Merry Christmas!

My Mexico post is forthcoming, but in the interest of not letting this get too far past the holiday, this was our Christmas Eve. Justin asked John if he would be Santa and bring presents over to their house for their daughter and some friends. I could not miss the opportunity to witness that, so Mrs. Claus tagged along.
It was so cute. Justin's daughter didn't trust Ol' St. Nic, but the other two were so excited and could not stop asking questions. and in case you didn't know this already, I learned that night that Santa's sleigh has a cloaking device so people don't steal the presents while he's inside.

Countdown...

This will be my last post for a while. We are heading to Mexico in the morning for some fun in the sun. I'll likely have a plethora of jealousy inducing photos in a week and a half. On an unrelated note, here is John bird surfing on the way home yesterday.

Style Show Weekend!

Well folks, the Tea Diet did the trick and I was ready for the Style Show this weekend! This Style Show is a fun time for John and me and we continued our tradition of turning the event into a staycation. We didn't get the hotel we had hoped for, but ours allowed us some beautiful riverfront walks. Those walks meant that we were drenched most of the time, but it was gorgeous. Lunch view:
Santa view:
Pre-func coffee cocktail view:
Flotation device:
Not flotation device:
After our dip in the pool, we hung out in our room to get ready and hopped the streetcar to the wine bar. Here I am in all of my finery, maybe a little out of place on Tri-met.
At the wine bar with the lovely Emily
John bought me this (60's vintage, rhinestone and super soft velvet.. love.) dress a couple weeks ago. We are schwanky.
Getting ready.....
and...we're off!
All of these pieces are so fantastic, it's just a dream to get to wear them all. However, to show each one would make this post a million miles long..
and since I try to keep this mostly family-friendly, some may not be appropriate to post... I think Robert and Brandie can speak for this one...
This little gem was so amazing.
I have to admit that this is what my style show store credit helped me take home at the end of the night. I'm going to wear it with jeans and it just may grace an upcoming fashion Friday....
This is "other Shannon" and John in a fur covered Shannon sandwich.
our walk home past the lovely Pioneer Square tree...
and the bedazzled streets....
I love John.
This is such a great event, I am super happy to be a part of this crew.
