Appreciation

This is my week between the March Body Blitz and the April Body Blitz. I am taking it easy and minimizing my workouts so that I am ready to start next week with gusto! I wanted to remember how awesome I felt after each class so after the final class last week I snapped this sweaty, flushed face, smiling shot. Thank you, body, for doing all of the crazy things I ask of you.

Birthday Party!

For my birthday, I decided to just invited everyone on Facebook to come and join me for some good times at the wine bar on Saturday night. We had a blast.
There may have been an insinuation that someone should bring cupcakes.
I love this picture. We were going for a group shot and I moved John's hand down toward the table and knocked over a water glass. I'm staring at the glass, John is asking me WTF? and Steve is gasping in horror. Excellent.
Kimberly looks so smart with her brown hair.
Erin was all fancy.
JJ + KY
Gavin with the lovely ladies..
We are pretty cute in the parking garage. Thanks to Erin for the picture and the ride home.
Once we got home, John ran out for emergency hamburgers. A little bit later, we kind of wanted more emergency hamburgers so I went with him. I brought the cat too. Why I was so certain she wanted to go on a hamburger run, I 'm not sure, but she purred the whole way.

Fashion Friday

TGIF! While work-Kim is off enjoying spring break, I have been super busy covering both of our desks for the past couple days. Usually after Body Blitz, I come back to the office, shower, catch up the early morning emails, and then go comb my hair and put on a bit of makeup. Yesterday I never got caught up on the email part. Not that it mattered how cute I was, because I never left my desk. I was cute earlier in the week though! I love this skirt, but it wears me out. The shape of it is very flattering, but it's built in curves mean I have to take very tiny steps and if I have to take an unplanned step up, I look kind of silly.
But I can't resist wearing it, because I feel so old-school girly in it. Also, the detail on the back is adorable. These shoes are the new love-of-my-closet-life.
I think I've mentioned before that I love the stone Labradorite. I especially love to pair it with black and denim... My mom got me a gorgeous necklace and earring set for my birthday so this outfit worked out perfectly for their debut!

Birthday Bliss.

I had the most surprising and sweet birthday. My mom sent me a box o' goodies on Monday full of purses and jewelery, things every girl must have. On my actual birthday, as is tradition here in my little work pod, I came in to find my cube decorated from top to bottom. When she arrived, Char brought me flowers. Shortly thereafter, John came by with a Victoria's Secret gift card box and my favorite chocolate covered caramels. I got a call from the front desk to come up and pick up another set of flowers, from John, and BFF Kim had dropped a bag of goodies as well. In there was the best card ever, our traditional champagne of choice, and a pretty lingerie set! and even though my hands were full, Kate topped it off with a Starbucks card!
Feeling lucky beyond belief, I headed back to my cube and later in the afternoon, ANOTHER set of flowers came from birthday buddy Joi. Then, Barb stopped by with a gift certificate to our work bar. wow, friends, wow! About 3:00, I went to get a cup of coffee and while I was standing in line the guy behind me asked about my tiara and when I told him it was my birthday he said "Well, there's a special today where I will buy the birthday girl's coffee!" So sweet and unexpected.
When I got to dance, Carrie had made me a special birthday cupcake.
All that, plus about 150 Facebook messages, I am so lucky.

Another one bites the dust

Awesomely and unintentionally timed to coincide with the passing of my 35th year :) I love this class and these girls.

and...scene.

Today is my last day as a 35 year old. I am so, so, SO grateful for everything that has happened this year. Both John and I are healthy, happy, with good jobs, a nice house, and happy pets. I could not ask for anything more. Also, my life is very fun. Here's some of what was packed into my 35th year...

Kayaking
Motorcycling
Fishing
Fun trips to Pendleton
Epic Road Trip 2010: NoDak and Back
The Coast
Showgirl Staycations (this one too!)
Spring in the woods
Mexico!
Snowshoeing
Random Hotel Adventures
Warrior Dash
Fun with my mom
I entered 2 photo contests. and won!
I dressed cute
I had a successful year of keeping fit with regular Mt. Tabor jogs, morning circuit training, Tease and Tone and finished with the extra challenge of Body Blitz.

Today, my Body Blitz students gave me a gift certificate for a massage and I had my work review.

This has been a really fantastic year. 36? Bring it.

Weekend Recap

We got a lot done this weekend, but not a lot of photos to prove it... We recently decided to join the future and get a new flat screen tv. The goal with this was to move our way out of Comcast and into Netflix. In doing this, we also acquired an Xbox with Kinect. On Friday, a new game came in the mail and we spent our evening with a bottle of champagne doing a little bit of video game bowling. This is probably where you will find us on any Friday for the foreseeable future, we loved it. The cats think that we are crazy. We made a trip to the Comcast office on Saturday to sever the tie. Afterward, we went for a bit of lunch and little beer before heading home to get ready for Saturday night.
OK, not all the beers were little...
I can't believe that I don't have any pictures of us all dressed up on Saturday, but we got all dressed up to go have dinner with Robert, whose lovely wife threw him a surprise birthday dinner!
On Sunday, we completed the transformation of The Ritz (our guest room) into The Ritz/Home Gym. We put the bed frame together so there is new storage available and hooked up the old tv to a new dvd player and now we have a sweet new place for me to spend my mornings with Jillian! Also, we took the old tv and a few other undesirables to Goodwill (man, that feels awesome). After all that work, we stopped for a little inspiration to get through the remaining afternoon tasks of fishtank cleaning, floor washing, and roast cooking.
What a great way to start my BIRTHDAY WEEK!

Fashion Friday

On photo day, it was raining so much that I couldn't bear to go outside for outfit photos. It was so torrential of a downpour that I also did not jog outside, and I drove the 4ish blocks to the gym to run on the treadmill. I'm glad that the inside shots turned out OK since I'm not used to doing them that way. It also was an unexpected bonus that I coordinated my outfit with the paint scheme.

Guess what I finally found? hints here, here, and here. A brown skirt! ta-da! It's not what I thought I would end up with but I like it. It is the first brown skirt I've tried on that I didn't immediately glare at and take off. It's pleather, which I didn't expect to come home with. Although now that I have it, I think a brown leather skirt would be a worthy investment. While I'm at it, I would wear a suede one as well. I am anxious to style this with colors and other variations of brown, but I admit I've worn this exact outfit twice (with different shoes each time). It's simple and slenderizing and I feel girlie in it. Probably because the skirt is high waisted, I feel like it gives me some curves.

I actually liked the skirt so much that I went back and got another one in black. Here's my "biker chick goes to the office" look. PS: this shot is from last week, I didn't rock matching skirts back to back :)

Something fun

The subject of Cincinnati (which I cannot spell right, like, ever) came up yesterday and I always like to send obscure "old" things to one of my younger co-workers. I sent him a picture of the cast from WKRP in Cincinnati and his response was: "What decade did this show take place? The picture quality is so poor its hurting my eyes… " Ah, youngsters with their high definition and Britney Spears and Justin Beibers. They don't remember walking uphill both ways in the snow to school and back. or hearing this catchy theme song through a tv where you had to get up to change the channel.

Candids

You know how I said we were going to make a photo collage of our Bridgeport pictures? Well here's just a recent phone dump of some of the ones we can choose from... This is one from outside, back in the good ol' days of summer...

Star....
Bimbo...
sometimes it's serious. well, as serious as you can be in a red glitter headband anyway.
see? serious.
sometimes not serious.

ah fun. we're cute.

The devil made me do it..

I just noticed that I had 666 posts. I'm just going to skip that quickly and make this 667th post. Just in case.

We are the proud new owners of this xbox! and we spent most of our weekend (I mean when we weren't at the bar) jumping and waving back and forth across our living room. sweet.
We like to taunt our cats with a laser beam and laugh when they chase it. I'm pretty sure this is the human equivalent of that.

Couple seeking pub for short term commitment, maybe more.

We recently found out that our beloved weekend hangout, Bridgeport on Hawthorne, was closing (NO!). This place is our starting point for almost every weekend and is conveniently located on the bus route to and from work and downtown and also near the grocery store (which makes Sunday shopping a lot nicer after a beer or two). First we heard that it was closing and going to be replaced by a pizza place (like we need another one of those). Upon speaking with our server-friends, who had all been let go (boo), we found out that they plan to re-open as themselves, but after a major renovation. It won't be the same, but hopefully they won't take away the homey feeling that it has, or at least give us the chance to re-gain it. Most importantly, I hope they keep our window seats! Regardless, we made our last weekend there count. Here's where you could find us quite easily on any given weekend at lunchtime...
Pay close attention to the Blue Heron sign....
On Saturday morning, we stopped to get a dozen cupcakes to deliver to the staff to thank them for the many, many beers and snacks they had delivered to us.

We sat in our regular seats and watched the show that is Hawthorne as we sipped away our sorrows. We had the idea to make a big frame of a bunch of our pictures in these very seats. We have weeks and weeks of each other in these chairs and various ones of our beers...
The focal point would be a certain Blue Heron decal. Our happily cupcaked servers looked the other way as we procured it.
Our lonely table...
We went back on Sunday, their final day, to find out the Blue Heron keg was empty. They found a couple bottles for us though and as we left, they handed us this 6 pack to that we could honestly say we drank the last of their beer. They also gave us two pint glasses with the old style Blue Heron logo. Way cool.
We will definitely check them out again after the remodel, knowing it can't ever be quite the same. But we are super stoked to have spent such a fun time there and we're thrilled about our stealthily stolen souvenir.

Fashion Friday

While I am teaching Body Blitz on Tuesdays and Tuesday is typically my Fashion Friday picture day, sometimes it's a roll of the dice because I pack my outfit Monday night. What I did not do on Monday night was wash my hair, so I decided to throw in a cap for Tuesday. To give it some flair, I clipped on a hair flower. I think it's adorable. My skirt looked fine for the day, but holding my backpack on the crowded bus ride home gave it some wrinkles for pictures. boo. Regardless, I think this is a win. I love the mixed prints with the herringbone on the hat, plaid in the skirt, and stripes on the socks.
Happy Friday!
